The Impossible – Film Review.
Catherine Livingston.
From this film I expected to have chills down my spine when the Tsunami happened, and I did. I went to watch this with my friend Abbie and we both didn’t expect to cry as much as we did throughout the film.
The genre of this film is a drama. This film was highly dramatic and suits people that love dramatic endings and suspense. It was based on a true story of a family that were tragically caught in the 2004 Thailand Tsunami.
In this film, a family of parents and three boys, Simon, Lucas and Thomas, go to Thailand on a Christmas break. They arrive on Christmas night and are supposed to spend two weeks there, when suddenly the accident happens. This film is very easy to follow however is gory at times.
The actors in this film don’t look like the actual family however they make the story line very realistic and believable. Their acting skills were very skilful and realistic.
The camerawork is amazing as the Tsunami scenes were realistic and moved me when I saw them. It was very clever when they showed some actual clips of the Tsunami in 2004.
I enjoyed this film as it moved me when I went to see it in the cinema. My favourite scenes were towards the end of the film once I knew what the whole story line was. I also enjoyed the film because it got straight to the Tsunami and didn’t have a slow and boring start to it. The scenes towards the end of the film were most memorable because they were the ones that stuck in my mid the most after the film. I still get goose bumps when i think about it.
I would highly recommend this film to all ages above the age of twelve because it is engaging and makes you think about true events that have happened in the past.
I urge you to go and see this film as you are guaranteed to enjoy this film as it is brilliant and you will love it whatever age you are!
